50ties "Patio Collection" … die 50ziger "Patio Kollektion"!

Today I am happy to see that my 50ties inspired "Patio Collection" is published on Rachael Taylor's design blog as part of a showcase students' designs (of Module 2 of the Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design Course). Thanks a lot for including me, Rachael! This is why I'll show the individual patterns here in this space – as an addition to the published Collection Board. Hope you like it!
To see where my inspiration came from just go to my last post for some photos and stories of my parents' travels in the 50ties. The promised part 2 of my 50ties inspiration with original fabrics is yet to come … just postponed it a bit for this … stay tuned!
For more students designs please go to Rachael's blog for part 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well, so many different styles and great designs! And part 6 is yet to come!
And this is the initial design for my "Patio Collection" (and please scroll down for more patterns):

"Patio" – based on my parents' holiday memories of a small italian hotel with a patio

"Holiday Balconies" – good morning, sunshine, now we are on holiday! …
"Parasole" – essential for sunbathing in style (and without sunburn) …
"Bird Talk" – talking about these funny tourists staying in the hotel …
"Palms and Parrots" – there were lots of birds and abundant greenery in that patio …
"Dinner al fresco" – at night they had dinner outside with lots of delicious italian
"Stars and Garlands" – memories of a summer's night with celebrations, fireworks and
garlands …
"Venetian ZigZag", lilac – inspired by masts of venetian gondolas …
inspiriert von den Masten venezianischer Gondeln.

  1. I love these patterns, Eva.
    Have you been to Italy?
The patios, the venetians windows, obviously the food, it's all there 60 years later and hopefully the lovely Italian way of welcoming tourists too.
You got it all. Lovely and poetic work, my friend. Well done!

    1. Thanks so much, Bethania! I have been to Italy quite a lot, even learned a bit italian in school. I guess my parents' love for Italy was just contagious! It's been a while now, but I am sure I will go again. Would love to see the southern part as well, so far I've mostly visited the north and the middle. It's a beautiful country!
