Reverting back to winter … and loving it!

Firstly I'd like to share a new (wintery) win:

Pretty chuffed that my little winter birdie made it into the top 30 winners of the Minted & Pottery Barn contest for kid's wallart! ! (Only just … on the 27th… but in nevertheless!) It will soon be available as art print – and hopefully will sell well in the next holiday season!
And I only learned later on that this was the biggest contest Minted ever did with over 600,000 votes!!! and more than 7300 submission :-o Good that I didn't know before entering … prob wouldn't have dared. So double happy over here now! You can see the gallery of all top 30 winners here.

And secondly here's more Christmas cards coming up! I have entered these designs into the current stationary challenge for holiday cards on Minted, so votes are very welcome, as always :-) Thank you so much!

I hope you like them! Motifs and lettering were all done in brush and ink, which develops into one of my fave techniques at the moment.

New year, new branding!

This was a long time coming … I just cannot ignore all last year's changes! I loved my old business name and logo but it just doesn't fit anymore.

So it's goodbye "Hand und Kopf" (you served me well), hello … "Eva twinkles"!

OK, das war wirklich schon lange in der Pipeline … ich kann die Veränderungen des letzten Jahres nicht länger ignorieren. Meinen alten Firmennamen und Logo mochte ich wirklich sehr, aber sie passen einfach nicht mehr.

Also: tschüß "Hand und Kopf"(Du hast mir gute Dienste geleistet), willkommen … "Eva twinkles"!

5 reasons for twinkling
1. Shine brightly.
2. Do friendly (and honest!) business.
3. Smile at this mad world.
4. Spread joy and beauty in work.

Finding a new branding was a hard nut to crack …
The name has to be international, but ok for my german customers as well.
The logo should carry on using some elements of my old one … after all the old one was wellknown around here.
Name and logo have to be as personal and emotional as possible for Surface Pattern Design and Illustration but at the same time serious and reputable enough to be used for Graphic Design.
I am happy it's done! Hope you like it!

Mein neues Branding war wirklich eine harte Nuss …
Der Firmenname muß international sein, aber auch für meine deutschen Kunden funktionieren.
Das neue Logo sollte einige Elemente des alten weiterverwenden … schließlich war das alte "gelernt".
Für Surface Pattern Design und Illustration sollten Namen und Logo so persönlich und emotional wie möglich sein, aber gleichzeitig noch seriös genug für Grafik Design.
Ich bin echt froh, daß es "vollbracht" ist! Ich hoffe, es gefällt!

Branding! My new name and new logo are ready and I will now gradually change my blog, my facebook page etc. Hopefully my portfolio will be online soon, just in time for …

Heimtex! Together with my fellow designer and ABSPD classmate Miranda Mol I will be walking the show in Frankfurt on the 10th and 11th of January. Really looking forward to meet Miranda again! As well I am happy to meet Simi Gauba from the second class of ABSPD. There will be lots of pattern talk going on!

Bloghop! Scheduled for the 10th of January – this is going to be a big one! – so watch this space! With the theme of "flying" and an emerald colour palette – like above – it's the perfect way to kick off the year designwise.

Passagen! A week later I am off to visit the German Interior Design Week "Passagen" in Cologne. I've been commissioned to write about it. This will be published in … no, I am not telling you yet …

And hopefully I will be able to take part in a trend seminar by Li Edelkoort.

Illustration! There's a new, big and exciting commission peeking around the corner, illustrating and designing a series of e-books. This will be fascinating to explore – there's a full-fledged world of it's own "living" in these books.

Illustration Friday! For 2013 I promised myself to take part in the weekly online challenge and exhibition Illustration Friday. I might only be able to participate from time to time really… but ok, better than nothing :-) I will publish my submissions here in the blog, so watch this space!

Website! Scheduled for March. I really take my time to work on my new website for Surface Pattern Design and Illustration, but I want it to be special and really "me" … 

My word for the year 2013 is … "balance". I thought about this quite a while. Looking back on my life I have only been able to be either really happy in my private life or really successfull in business. These two never seemed to sit comfortably together. I want to have it all now! Thinking about my new direction which is much closer to my heart I think I stand a good chance to achieve this … fingers crossed!

Bloghop! Geplant für den 10. Januar. Das wird eine große Sache, reinschauen lohnt sich! Das Thema ist "Flug" und die Farbpalette wird smaragdgrün sein, wie oben. Der perfekte Start ins Design-Jahr!

Passagen! Eine Woche später fahre ich auf die Deutsche Interior Design Week in Köln. Ich habe den Auftrag, darüber zu schreiben. Veröffentlicht wird mein Beitrag in … nö, das verrate ich noch nicht!

Illustration! Ein neuer, großer und interessanter Auftrag schaut schon um die Ecke. Es geht um Illustration (und Design) für eine Serie von E-Books. Ich freue mich schon darauf, die ganz eigene Welt dieser Bücher grafisch zu interpretieren.

Illustration Friday! Das habe ich mir selbst versprochen – ich möchte dieses Jahr an der wöchentlichen Online-Ausstellung Illustration-Friday teilnehmen. Wahrscheinlich klappt es nur von Zeit zu Zeit, aber besser als nix! Meine Beiträge werde ich auch hier im Blog veröffentlichen.

Mein Wort für das Jahr 2013 ist … "Gleichgewicht". Darüber habe ich lange nachgedacht. Wenn ich so zurückblicke, war bei mir immer nur ein Bereich so richtig "in Butter", entweder ich war privat sehr glücklich oder beruflich erfolgreich. Beides zusammen war immer problematisch. Aber jetzt! Wenn ich so an meine neue berufliche Richtung denke, die mir sehr viel mehr entspricht, dann klappt es vielleicht wirklich … hoffentlich!
